R.E.S.P.E.C.T – Thank You Aretha

I’m old enough to have enjoyed the late 80’s resurgence of Aretha Franklin, her music with George Michael, Annie Lennox and others kept her on our screens. Then in the late 90’s she dropped an album which featured a gem of a song ” A Rose Is Still A Rose” produced by a young Lauryn Hill.

More than music though, Aretha’s journey through the civil rights era was a full circle. She performed at the funeral of murdered civil rights activist Martin Luther King and was around to perform at the Inauguration of America’s first black President Barrack Obama.
